How to Make Your Own Peach Liqueur

Compliments of Veganbaking.net, here's a simple, easy-to-use recipe for home brewed peach liqueur:

  • 2 pounds peaches (pitted & cut into 1/4-inch slices)
  • 750ml vodka (typically one bottle)
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

  1. Put the peaches and vodka in a 1/2 gallon glass container, cover, seal tightly and shake.
  2. On a daily basis, stir the mixture thoroughly.
  3. After one week, strain out the peaches and discard them.
  4. In medium saucepan over low to medium heat, whisk together the sugar and water until the sugar dissolves completely.
  5. Pour the sugar mixture into the glass container, cover, and shake vigorously.
  6. Place the container in a cool, dark place and let it sit, tightly covered and undisturbed, for at least another two weeks. The longer you let it sit, the smoother your peach liqueur will be.
  7. For best results, chill in the freezer before serving.

Containers for Home Brewed Peach SchnappsHow to Bottle Your Home Brewed Liqueur

Bottling home brewed liqueur is easier than you might think. Just about any container with a lid is fine for bottling your liqueur. Popular favorites include wine bottles with corks, specialty jars with twist-on lids, Mason jars, and reused Grolsch bottles. Be sure to thoroughly clean out whatever you use with soap and water, and make sure that it is completely dry before you fill it. Keep your homemade liqueur in a cool, dry place or the freezer. And, like all home brewed liqueurs, if it is kept properly sealed and stored, it will probably keep for a year or so.
